Report on OCA’s Game Changer Tour to Dubai

May 5th to 14th, 2015

First I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Sponsors and the Executives of the OCA for their contribution financially as well as their time and effort to make this tour possible.

Fifteen players, 25 years and under, were selected with 3 officials to be on this tour.  The players came from different leagues within the OCA .  The group left on May 5th arriving in Dubai on May 6th.

On May 7th a practice session was held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the outdoor nets.  It was conducted by Mr. Mudassar Nazar the ICC high performance coach.

On May 8th the first of 2 twenty/twenty games were played.  Game started at 5:00 p.m. The OCA team played an under 19 team from the ICC Academy.  The OCA team competed very well but lost this game in a close encounter.

On May 9th there were 2 hours of Indoor practice again conducted by Mr. Nazar at 10:00 a.m.

On May 10th another twenty/twenty game was played. The OCA team played against Under 19 and Under 17 players of the ICC Academy and won.  It was a very exciting match.

On May 11th the final game was played.  This was a 40 overs game between OCA and against Under 19 and some senior players of the ICC Academy.  This was another close game with ICC Academy winning by 8 runs.

The rest of the tour Mr. Iqbal Javed UAE National coach conducted a fast bowling clinic in the outdoor nets for all the quick bowlers.  As well as Mr. Nazar did some fundamentals of fielding and bowling drills with the group in the indoor nets.

The Dubai ICC Sports Academy is an impressive, well organized body with International players coaching in various sports activities. The OCA entourage was treated with great respect and the players really enjoyed the tour completely as it was well organized by the staff at the ICC Academy. They provided great accommodation for the group as well as great food and transportation to and from the Airport.

Discipline and good behavior was shown by all of the OCA players throughout the tour.  The group is looking forward to future tours like this.  The experience and knowledge they gained from this tour is invaluable and they plan to practice the use of these fundamentals when playing games in Canada.
